On being lazy

After training BJJ for one year, I can count with my fingers the number of times I've been lazy to go to practice. I can also tell you the number of times I've skipped practice in order to attend an event, birthday or a get together. I train four to five days a week and I still manage a pretty decent social life and an 8-5 job. I don't understand how some people would rather slack off and NOT go to training, their only reason being: "I'm lazy". BJJ is a way of life. This is something I learned after my first month of training. You can't just drop in every once in awhile.. BJJ is practically a lifetime commitment. Kind of like being in a relationship. Once you're in, you're in. You have to train at least twice a week, watch videos every once in awhile, take notes, work out to supplement it, etc. Now, if you choose to fuck it up, you're... how do I put this lightly.. fucked! Everyone, even the little 90 lb girl, will most definitely kick your ass :)

  1. I can't tell you how many times I have heard other BJJ women describe BJJ as a relationship. For the first 6 months it certainly feels like an abusive relationship. :) But then it just keeps getting better.
