Coffee vs Green Tea
In a conscious effort to have a healthier lifestyle, I am quitting coffee. I actually stopped drinking coffee about a week ago (does coffee jelly count?) and I've never felt better. Perhaps its all the creamer and brown sugar that I add to the coffee, but after switching to green tea, I haven't experienced that heavy feeling I usually have after drinking coffee.
Plus, check out all the benefits of drinking green tea!

“Current research shows tea contains specific antioxidants and health promoting ingredients, lowering the risk of heart disease, stroke and certain types of cancer….” (American Health Foundation)
It’s no surprise that the health benefits of tea have been scientifically and medically upheld by independent research in several countries. Even before modern science formalized its findings, the rest of the tea–drinking world already knew it. Tea is good food. The properties contained in tea have played a significant role in benefiting patients with heart disease, stroke, atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, diabetes and certain types of cancer. We know that antioxidants destroy free radicals, which wreak havoc to the human body, and tea is rich in antioxidants. Tea also contains vitamins including carotenoids and vitamin K, and mineral components including potassium, aluminum, manganese and fluoride. As if this weren’t enough, the antibiotic effects of tea have proven helpful to oral and bone health and have also been used as a treatment for anemia. A recent study in Britain found that tea may inhibit certain brain enzymes linked to Alzheimer’s disease.
A serving of tea contains less than half the caffeine of coffee. For those who are caffeine sensitive, our line of naturally caffeine-free Rooibos is an excellent alternative. In addition to the health properties of tea, Rooibos increases iron absorption and relieves stomach and digestive discomfort. In an effort to loose a few extra pounds, tone up, and feel better about yourself, why not make tea your beverage of choice? Hot or over ice, tea tastes great—and most importantly it’s good for your health.
So, come to the lighter side and switch to green tea with me! :)

Yeah, I've been pondering green tea after hearing Eddie Goldman's fervent recommendation (bit of a random topic for an MMA podcast, but meh).
ReplyDeleteThen again, I don't drink tea or coffee anyway. However, my girlfriend does, and her parents are especially bad. They'll knock back literally ten or twelve cups of tea a day, so getting them onto green tea instead would be great. ;)
